observations from my travels through florence. quiet, still, slow. my travel photos are often small intimate moments of seeing. travelling for me is about sleeping in as long as i want, eating breakfast in bed, and wandering a foreign city in the hopes of getting lost in newness... giving myself up to discovery. in short, my vacations are the opposite of my very hectic life at home. i revel in the simplicity of walking with my camera alone... breathing deeply, stopping for strong coffee and just being present.

at dusk with teddy
snuggles... before sleep wraps itself around you and takes you to dreamland. possibly my favourite time of day with this delicious boy. on sunday scarlett turns 8. where has all of that time gone? savouring what i can while i can before they leave the nest. so many beautiful stories to share with you... part two from erin & jonathan's wedding first... and then so many more delicious things i've been working on. coming up... next week.

bathtime outdoors
this sweet little guy is my son emerson. last summer we kept with tradition and gave emmie a bath on the cottage deck... in the little green basin all the grandchildren in the wood family have used over the years.
(in the very last frame you see emmie looking at a photo of his big sister in the tub when she was little)
the images are double exposures on kodak portra film shot on my uncles old minolta x700. the images that bleed through are from my dad's property in guelph... where i grew up.
