photographing people is always my first choice. the relationship, the awkwardness, the connection, the evolution that unfolds as we work/walk/shoot together is what keeps me trying harder, keeps me dedicated to crafting better images. when i go on vacation i rarely photograph people... even my own family get left just beyond the edge of the frame. vacation photography for me is a chance to think solely about the colour, the light, the way it falls and the composition. alone with my wandering eyes, devouring silently the endless beauty unfolding at every turn. italy from my vantage point.
novis FALL / WINTER 2015
this past friday, i finally had the opportunity to see my friend jordana's beautiful work at new york fashion week. inspired by Matisse's cutouts, recently exhibited at MOMA, novis' Fall / Winter 2015 collection is bright and exuberant while simultaneously sophisticated and perfectly "cut". i am also working on a short film from friday's presentation and look forward to sharing it with you when it is ready. (it's ready! see above) of course, i couldn't resist capturing a few stills too:
galleria italia wedding
Tara O'Grady of Bliss Events planned and executed Alexandra & Mark's sun-drenched wedding. She beautifully captures the spirit of our couples day:
"Self proclaimed urban foodies, Alexandra Da Gama Rose & Mark Sorbara’s wedding was celebrated on a gorgeous sunny June afternoon in two of Toronto’s most stunning venues, St. Paul’s Basilica and Galleria Italia, AGO.
In keeping with the couples passion for inspired cuisine, the theme of Alexandra & Mark’s wedding was “Love, Food & Wine”. Upon arrival to the galleria, guests were invited to a guided “Food & Love Wedding Art Tour” featuring a hand selected few of AGO’s vast collection. The intimate guest list of 58 enjoyed a sumptuous food & wine paired menu accompanied by the smooth sounds of Jazz quartet, The Cat Bernardi Band.
Guests were seated at an exquisite 60ft Kings table adorned with lush, beautiful, seasonal flowers such as Gardenia peonies, ranunculus, garden and spray roses accented with mercury silver details and romantic candlelight. Set upon a beautiful blush Italian cotton linen with scalloped edging, this Bliss signature look exuded elegance and sophistication.
Guest favours were individual parmesan cheese wedges from the Cheese Boutique placed in custom made, stamped cotton bags.
Immediately following their wedding, the couple jetted off to Lyon, France further extending their pursuit of love, food & wine."
